Technical Information

Anodising (or anodizing) is an electrolytic passivation process used to increase the thickness of the natural oxide layer on the surface of metal parts.
The process is called "anodising" because the part to be treated forms the anode electrode of an electrical circuit. Anodizing increases corrosion resistance and wear resistance, and provides better adhesion for paint primers and glues than does bare metal.
Anodising can also be used for a number of cosmetic effects, mainly by use of thin transparent coatings in a range of colours that add interference effects to reflected light.

Anodic films are generally much stronger and more adherent than most types of paint and metal plating, but also more brittle. This makes them less likely to crack and peel from aging and wear, but more susceptible to cracking from thermal stress.

All anodised bolts we offer on our website are made from high tensile aluminium.

We offer them for use in non safety critical areas only. If in doubt with regards to that please contact us prior to purchase.

DIN/ISO A2 Stainless Steel Is A Corrosion Resistant Steel.
The stailess steel bolts we offer here on our website are A2-70 with 700 N/mm2 Tensile Strength.

Please also see the comparison table below:

Common Uses:
Stainless steel A2-70 bolts can be safely used for engine side covers, chain guards, licence plate holders, fairings, pipe clamps etc.

It should not be used for any brake components or in any mechanical heavily loaded application. If in any doubt please contact us.
